It has grown from a small Dutch publisher dedicated to classical scholarship to an international multimedia publishing company, supplying more than 20,000 products to the fields of education, science, technology and medicine worldwide. Elsevier got its name from the original House of Elzevir, the Dutch family publishing House founded in 1580.
